Shipping / Receiving / Inventory Control Supervisor

This position is responsible for the daily shipping, distribution and stockroom functions for a leading contract manufacturer of medical devices. This position will have 3-5 direct reports and interact with internal and external customers, providing high levels of customer service while ensuring efficient materials movement and transfer. The ideal candidate will be familiar with current ISO standards, have strong leadership skills and depth of experience in global logistics and transportation.

Key Individual Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with shipping partners and agents (freight forwarders, freight companies, etc.) manage all necessary documentation to create export compliance processes
  • Oversee receipt of incoming shipments, including raw materials, chemicals, and MRO
  • Maintain and update as necessary ISO procedures
  • Manage, investigate and resolve all production/material receipt discrepancies through coordination with planning, supervisor and accounting departments.
  • Processing of work orders to ensure product flows in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ultimate responsibility for ensuring final product is properly packaged and shipped to customers or 3PL facility in accordance with customer specs.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and the ability to hold the Shipping Department personnel responsible for processing orders timely and accurately.
  • Management of the time and attendance, coaching, hiring and discipline of team of 3-5 direct reports.

Key Department Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy of X3 (ERP) transactions, paperwork and data entry
  • Organize and maintain all inventory
  • Proper packaging, identification, movement, and storage of production materials
  • Track receipt of work in process and component requirement priorities.
  • Receipt of all incoming shipments, including raw materials, chemicals, and MRO
  • Properly label kitted parts and issue to respective work centers
  • Skills and Qualifications
  • Import / export compliance program experience
  • Experience with GMP- and ISO-certified environments required
    ERP experience required – Sage X3 experience a plus
  • Excellent organizational, record keeping and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within cross-functional teams as a team player
  • Proven track record of management of small groups with
  • Ability to prioritize, manage timelines, and meet tight deadlines on short notice
  • Associate’s Degree preferred

Experience

  • 8-10+ years of experience in materials management at a manufacturing facility
  • 3+ years in a supervisory role
  • Must have experience in GMP and ISO-certified environments
  • Medical device or life sciences logistics and distribution preferred
